James and I met each other on December 14, 1981. As my first little brother it was a trial and error type of relationship. Growing up we didn’t see eye to eye sometimes, which led to some conflict. The resolution was either made from a best case scenario between ourselves or worst case scenario, our father. Over the years we’ve played together, laughed together, prayed together, and most importantly grew up together. The latter was strengthened and took fruition once James decided to attend Morehouse College in 2000. During his matriculation at school and years after, we lived with each other and truly got the opportunity to bond. This bond, initially rooted from childhood, had now produced fruit into manhood. A friend that sticks closer than a brother can easily be reversed in our relationship. To me, James has been an “iron sharpener” and my brother in Christ. I am thankful to God that he has found his “good thing” and I am confident that Amanda and he will be a couple of forever from this day forward.
